Editorial Policy
Who writes My PersonalFi, how content is sourced and dated, and how we handle mistakes.
Who writes this site
Content on My PersonalFi is researched, written, and reviewed collectively by the My PersonalFi Editorial Team. We publish under a team byline rather than individual names, and we are deliberate about what that means: we do not claim professional credentials, licenses, or certifications of any kind. We are researchers and writers, not certified financial planners, accountants, brokers, or lenders. Where a subject calls for professional judgment, we say so and point you to the appropriate licensed professional.
How we source
Our guides are built from primary and authoritative sources: federal regulators and agencies (such as the CFPB, FTC, and IRS), statutes and official guidance, providers' own published disclosures and rate sheets, and established consumer-finance references. Product terms shown on comparison pages (rates, fees, eligibility) come only from what providers publish — we do not estimate, extrapolate, or invent figures. When we cite a number, it has a source; when a number cannot be sourced, we leave it out.
Review dates
Articles display their published and last-updated dates. Comparison listings for financial products show a per-offer "as of" date reflecting when that provider's data was last refreshed. We re-verify financial-product data on a monthly cycle and refresh guides when the facts underneath them change — see the financial products methodology for the full cadence.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix the article promptly, update its last-updated date, and — for substantive errors that could have affected a reader's decision — note the correction on the page. To report an error, email hello@mypersonalfi.com or use our contact form with a link to the page and the issue. We review correction reports as a priority queue.
Independence and compensation
My PersonalFi earns revenue from affiliate partnerships, including some financial-product providers. Compensation never affects our conclusions, and on financial-product comparison pages it cannot affect presentation either: listings are ordered by objective terms (lowest starting APR, then alphabetically), never by what a provider pays us. The full rules are documented in our methodology.
Not financial advice
Everything on My PersonalFi is educational and informational. It is general in nature, is not tailored to your circumstances, and is not financial, legal, tax, or investment advice. We are not a lender, broker, or financial advisor, and nothing here is an offer or solicitation of credit. Before acting on anything you read here, verify current terms with the provider and consider consulting a licensed professional who can evaluate your specific situation.
